Web Design and Development seminar at CFA

The Communication Foundation for Asia in partnership with SIGNIS conducted a 5 day seminar on Web Design and Development for Media Directors of the different dioceses in the Philippines at CFA, Sta. Mesa Manila on November 14-18, 2005.

The seminar was about web designing using Macromedia. Part of the lesson was a background on HTML and webpage, creating, editing and animating text, creating and editing tables and frames, animating objects and images, a background in COREL Draw and COREL Photo Paint, and using the Ray Dream Studio. The seminar opened new doors and opportunities for the participants to develop their skills, knowledge and abilities in computer most especially in web design. The seminar as well, created and developed camaraderie among the participants. The most important part of it is the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by the priests of the different diocese.

Mr. Noel de Leon was our instructor who at the same is the Director of CFA (Media Affairs). He also gave a talk about the Ecclesia in Asia.

Ms. Erlinda So of SIGNIS was also one of the speakers. She talked about the Church Communication: Ministry and Mission. She further elaborated primarily on how to determine the Communication and Media Requirements of the Diocese and at the Duties and Responsibilities of a Diocesan Media Director.

Fr. Francis Lucas of the Catholic Media Network gave his talk on the last day of the seminar. He spoke to the participants with so much vigor and great optimism. He talked about setting up a Diocesan Media Office accompanied by his PowerPoint presentation on working with the mainstream media. On the same day, a mini- graduation was held at the dining area near the pool. A c
ertificate of participation was given to the participants for completing the seminar.

The seminar does not really offered bulk knowledge about the web. The seminar nourished and somehow shaped our perception on media and the church. The internet is truly one of the most powerful and effective tools of communication. Therefore, we can utilize media as means of evangelization. A useful way of reaching the people and bring them closer to the Lord. Media today is the language used by people of all ages to communicate and to adopt them to the changing world.

Our deepest gratitude to the personnel of the CFA who were all very accommodating, kind and generous to us. (Sr. Noel, Ms. Bob, Grace, Ramil and Allan) May you all, continue to be always of service to other people and always be true to your mission. Thank you very much! God Bless!
